My journey with Trager® began at a time when I was in significant pain. Due to several car accidents—being hit while stopped at a stop sign and even once at a railroad crossing with the guard rails down—I was walking like an old lady, struggling with severe sciatic pain. I was attending a conference at the time. Someone who had taken the first level of Trager® noticed how much I was struggling. She literally took me by the arm, brought me aside, and worked on my legs for about twenty minutes.

The next morning, she worked on me again—this time for only ten minutes. After that, what had been constant sciatic pain was gone for two and a half weeks! That experience changed everything. I knew immediately that Trager® Approach Therapy was something I needed to learn, both for my own healing and so I could help others.

Working on people using motion was completely new to me. One thing that felt natural to me was integrating Trager® with my background in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, making the process easy and intuitive to merge. And I experienced my own healing journey along the way.

Different people, at different stages of their path to wellness, can accept very different levels of input. As I truly listen to the person on the table—how they feel, how they move, and what their body can receive in that moment, I learned that Trager® has a method, but the person always comes first. That insight, above all, continues to guide the way I practice today and will into the future.

I have been free of sciatic pain for many years now, and that alone stands as a testament to what is possible

When a person’s body is supported rather than forced, healing happens. Over time, and when people are willing to invest in the process with patience and presence, the results can be deeply transformative and well worth the effort.

Trager® Approach -- Somatic Movement Therapy

What Is The Trager® Approach

A gentle body-mind practice that helps people feel more ease, balance, and freedom in their bodies. It uses soft, mindful touch and simple movements to help the body let go of tension and remember how to move comfortably again.

During a session, the practitioner and client work together in a calm, respectful way. On the table, the practitioner uses light, rhythmic movements that feel supportive and soothing. Clients may also learn Mentastics—easy, mindful movements they can do on their own to stay relaxed and aware in daily life.

This approach helps calm the nervous system and encourages lighter, smoother movement. Many people feel more relaxed, more present, and more connected to their bodies. Over time, this gentle process can support a sense of harmony, confidence, and overall well-being.

My specialty is Subtle Trager® which is great for relieving chronic pain, stress, anxiety, and stiffness, beneficial for fibromyalgia, improving mobility/flexibility, and helping with neuromuscular conditions like Parkinson's, MS, Cerebral Palsy, and Post-Polio Syndrome, as well as aiding recovery from injuries and trauma by promoting deep relaxation and ease of movement through gentle, rhythmic motions.

What to Expect in a Session

  • Sessions include tablework (client clothed) and movement education.

  • Focused sessions are around 30 minutes and full sessions around 60-75 minutes.

  • It's a collaborative process, involving self-discovery and finding freedom from habitual tension.
